Derek Janoff is a 21-year-old saxophonist from South Florida. He is currently attending the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami studying privately with saxophonist Marcus Strickland. As a student at Frost, Derek has received mentorship from world-class musicians. Derek has participated in prestigious ensembles such as the Frost Studio Jazz Band directed by Etienne Charles and the Frost Jazz Orchestra directed by John Daversa. As a member of these bands, Derek has performed alongside legendary musicians such as Christian McBride, Chucho Valdés, and Ari Hoenig.
A virtuoso across numerous musical styles, Derek is renowned for his original and versatile saxophone sound. Whether he is leading a jazz ensemble or laying down horn lines for a wedding band, Derek is consistently recognized as a performer who excels in any musical setting. Audiences rave about Derek’s enthusiasm and radiant positivity he displays on stage.
